Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Denmark’s Best Hidden Gem – the island of Ærø and quaint town of Ærøskobing! This small island is easily reachable by car ferry. Between the colorful beach huts and cobblestone streets of the town, you will instantly fall in love. It may be small, but the restaurant scene is incredible. Grabbing coffee and pastries is a highlight, as there are so many cozy places to do so!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Car Ferries- will save you so much time and money! The tolls on bridges in Denmark, are quite steep, which makes driving quite expensive. Ferries are also convenient because you can relax with a coffee from the cafe onboard. Some islands are only reachable by ferry, making them an integral part to travel in Denmark!
2
Bridge Tolls- as I mentioned, the bridge tolls are quite high. This is especially true when driving between Sweden and Copenhagen. This bridge is very cool though, as part of it is a bridge and the other half is a tunnel. Yes, that's right, you enter a tunnel in the middle of the Baltic!
3
Park & Ride Copenhagen- driving into big cities, like Copenhagen, can be stressful and expensive. Avoid this by parking just outside of the city, next to the railway. You can park for free or very little, then hop on the train and breeze into the city!
4
Slow Down- enjoy a coffee and pastry in the middle of the afternoon, without an agenda. These moments in a cute Danish cafe will help you experience the true feeling of hygge!

What can I expect from Denmark?

A very safe and clean country, full of all the cozy vibes!
