Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Estonia’s Best Hidden Gem – the Telliskivi neighborhood of Tallinn. The historical city center of Tallinn is incredible, but you should also venture out a bit to the more creative & bohemian Telliskivi neighborhood. Here you can experience some great cafes and bars. Want to do a gin tasting or enjoy some incredible coffee? Then this is the spot for you!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Ferry to Helsinki- either by foot or with your car, you can easily travel between Tallinn and Helsinki with the ferry. This allows you to visit two countries with ease. Don't miss the duty-free shopping on the boat!
2
Drive Through the Country- as with any country, once you get outside the cities, you're able to experience more of the local life and culture. The landscape of Estonia is beautiful, not to mention the coastline and islands on the Baltic Sea!
3
Service Fee- check to see if tip/gratuity is already included in your restaurant bill!
4
Learn from the Locals- walking or history tours will open your eyes to the perspective of the local people. Personally, I thought the walking tour in Tallinn was super insightful in regards to the current political situation with Russia. You can learn a lot from these tours, while simultaneously seeing the major city sights!

What can I expect from Estonia?

The prices here were the highest of the Baltics, but still inexpensive in comparison to Western Europe. Be ready to immerse yourself in the historical city center of Tallinn and learn more about the Baltic history, and how it’s formed the country of Estonia into what it is today!
