Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

France’s Best Hidden Gem – the Alsace Wine Region on the border with Germany. This region has actually changed hands between Germany and France countless times, so it is a combination of cultures & language. The wineries here are small, family-owned and incredibly inexpensive! The towns look like they are straight out of a fairy tale, you will be sure to fall in love!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Long Lunches- slow down, order that bottle of wine and eat all 3 courses. I know it might sound extravagant for lunch but in France lunch is an event, meant to be enjoyed slowly. Choose somewhere with a view and enjoy the company of those you are with, as you savor every last sip of rosé!
2
Get Outside Paris- you should absolutely visit Paris, it's a stunning city (that took actually took a couple visits to grow on me) but the best parts of France and French culture are found when you venture into the smaller corners of the country!
3
Learn the Language Basics- let's just say that trying to speak French will get you a long way with the people of France 🙂
4
Rosé All Day- especially in the South of France, you can drink rosé all day. So enjoy your wine at lunch, most of the French people will be doing the same!

What can I expect from France?

A large Western European country with so much to offer. You can ski the Alps, swim in the Mediterranean and wander the streets of Paris!
