Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Greece’s Best Hidden Gem – Paxos Island! Only reachable by boat, putting this island a bit more off the beaten track. You can fly into Corfu and catch a ferry to this picturesque and peaceful Greek island! Of the 8 Greek Islands I’ve been to, this is the one I want to return to again and again!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Ferry Between Islands- don't think you need to fly from island to island. The Greek ferry system is easy to navigate and it's very extensive, allowing you to truly island hop. I would recommend early morning ferries because they do tend to fall behind schedule as the day goes on, resulting in delayed departure times.
2
Try Mastiha- similar to Ouzo but much better (less intense)! Plus you can have a Mastiha & Tonic, a refreshing cocktail for a hot, summer day!
3
Free Dessert or Liquor- the Greek hospitality is unmatched! It's not uncommon to get a dessert or some ouzo for free at the end of your meal. This is especially true on Crete and other less touristy towns!
4
Visit Tourist Sights in the Early Morning- if you're visiting Athens in high season, it's worthwhile to wake up with the sun and be the first to popular tourist sights. Not only will the crowds increase as the day goes on, but so will the heat!

What can I expect from Greece?

The most amazing islands, delicious food and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet!
