Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Ireland’s Best Hidden Gem – the town of Dingle! This cute fisherman’s village on the Dingle Peninsula is full of colorful houses. You can shop, hang out in a local pub and even take a dolphin boat ride!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Rental Car Fees- are incredibly HIGH in Ireland! This makes driving the tiny, winding roads very expensive. However, you do need to drive through the countryside to fully immerse yourself in Irish culture. Just be prepared for an expensive rental car!
2
Try a Murphys- everyone goes to Ireland and drinks Guiness (no shade to Guiness) but you should also try a Murphys. It's very similar but the less internationally famous version!
3
Stay in Small Villages- Dublin is incredible but be sure to visit Dingle, Doolin or another small village. Here you will feel and experience the Irish hospitality!
4
Local Pubs- your trip to Ireland is not complete with spending time in the local pubs. Order a drink and chat up the bartender or others in the bar. The Irish are very friendly and you will have a great time talking the night away with them!

What can I expect from Ireland?

An English-speaking country, but with some strong accents. The rainy weather gives way to incredibly green countryside. The views are truly picturesque. Slow down and enjoy this beautiful country!
