Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Israel’s Best Hidden Gem – the Dead Sea, okay hear me out…I know this isn’t a hidden gem but it simply can’t be missed! The feeling of floating in the super salty water is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Group Tours- when you want to see Jerusalem or the Dead Sea, a group tour can be the best way to go. The ease of being driven around in a tour bus can take a lot of stress away. Not to mention it's a jam-packed day, allowing you to see a lot!
2
Don't Buy Mud for Dead Sea- we were ``scammed`` into purchasing mud to use when we were swimming in the Dead Sea. The shops sell this when you enter the area of the beach (but before you can see the beach). We were told the beach didn't have any mud so we had to buy it if we wanted it...this was of course a lie. There is plenty of FREE mud down at the beach 🙂
3
Visit Jaffa- just outside of Tel Aviv is the smaller town of Jaffa. The manageable size of this town was absolutely worth a visit! The cultural feeling is must stronger here than in Tel Aviv itself.
4
Stay in Jerusalem- although I didn't do this myself, I have heard great things about staying in the ancient city overnight. This allows you to explore in the morning and evening, without all the day trippers.

What can I expect from Israel?

A country rich in religious history and full of incredible food. Without getting political, I think it is important to check the current political situation before planning a trip to Israel.
