Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Monaco’s Best Hidden Gem – as strange as it sounds: the train station. Never have I visited such an insane train station! From the aesthetics to the fact that it is completely built into a mountain. Once you take the elevator allll the way up, you will exit to an incredible view!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Extremely Expensive- there's a reason the wealthy like Monaco, it is not a cheap place to visit!
2
Day Trip from Nice- to save some cash, just visit Monaco for the day! By skipping the cost of an expensive hotel, maybe you can afford to grab some lunch somewhere 😉 Money aside, Monaco is small enough to fully experience during a day trip.
3
Cell Phone Service- beware that EU cell coverage does NOT include Monaco. This left my husband and I unexpectedly without data. Either purchase a separate Monaco plan (ex. a day pass) or download your map prior to entering the country.
4
Visit by Train- the train connections to Monaco are great, plus then you don't have to worry about parking your car!

What can I expect from Monaco?

A very small, clean and safe country on the Mediterranean. It’s perfect for day trip from the South of France!
