Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Morocco’s Best Hidden Gem – The markets in Fez. The shopping here in Fez is some of the best in the world, in terms of handicrafts. The people of Fez pride themselves on their handicraft work, it’s more than a job to them, it’s a passion and a way of life. The shop owners are so happy to tell you all about their products–everything from handwoven rugs to leather from the local tanneries.

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Hire a Local Guide not only will this save you from potential harassment on the streets but you will get to see the country from a local's point of view. This allows you to see things you would never find on your own and learn about the local culture and history, from a local themselves. Costs are very inexpensive, our guid was 40euros for the day (before tip).
2
Dress Modestly no matter where I travel, I always find it important to dress in a way that fits with the location. In certain countries, and as a woman, I think this is even more important. Covering your shoulders and knees can help divert unwanted attention. The climate is very warm so long dresses and linen shirts or something similar are a comfortable way to do so.
3
Avoid Drinking the Water please take my advice so you don't get ill, like I did. Although the water in major Moroccan cities is considered safe, if you have a weak stomach (hi, it's me) then you're probably best off sticking to bottled water. I would go so far as to use bottled water to brush my teeth and avoid fruit/veggies that aren't cooked
4
Pack an Extra Suitcase if Fez is on your Moroccan itinerary, then you will definitely want an extra bag to bring home all the souvenirs I know you will want to purchase at the markets. The beautiful, quality items from the markets are such a good deal, it's hard not to buy everything! Just beware that some stalls are clearly selling items from China. This is where our private tour guide was key--he brought us to all the genuine shops.

What can I expect from Morocco?
