Planning Resources:

Accommodation – I always check these three websites to see my options when booking hotels or apartments to stay in : Booking.com, Airbnb.com and Expedia.com (includes VRBO & Hotels.com)

Tours – When searching for activities and tours, I use Viator and Get Your Guide

Transportation – I stalk Google Flights for both domestic and international flights. For trains, Eurail for multi-day passes and Trainline for one-off train tickets. I often use Enterprise for rental cars, but will go with any reputable company that offers a good deal.

Spain’s Best Hidden Gem – the Costa Brava Region! Ahh this place is a dream, I might just move here one day. It’s an hour or so north of Barcelona, and there are many cute towns sprinkled along the coastline. The beaches give me Laguna Beach vibes and I’m obsessed. It’s the perfect spot for a week-long beach getaway!

Alex’s Insider Tips

1
Best Winter Getaway- the Canary islands have nice weather ALL year long. This makes it one of the only warm weather escapes in Europe!
2
Catalonian Language- the Catalonia region of Spain actually has its own official language. It's a very unique region of Spain, and includes the city of Barcelona. Therefore, don't be surprised if you hear a language other than Spanish.
3
Late Dinners- everything starts later in the Spanish culture. Dinner will be eaten no earlier than 9pm, many restaurants don't even open until then. When it comes to clubbing, expect to be out until the sun comes up!
4
Tinto de Verano- while most tourists are drinking expensive sangria, the local Spaniards are drinking Tinto de Verano. So what is it? Red table wine mixed with lemon soda water, served over ice. So fit in with the locals (and save $$) by ordering some Tinto de Verano!

What can I expect from Spain?

A country very familiar with the tourism industry. Everything is well connected by public transport and you could travel a whole year within Spain without running out of things to do and see! The tapas culture allows you to try out many different Spanish foods!
